I have a similar and equally frustration issue with vi on my ibook. Run
vi and I can use delete to delete things, but after a while delete
stops doing anything. Using esc-d-left isn't a great option.

Why is there no proper backspace key anyway. And why does fn-delete not
do something sensible? Is there a way to convince OSX to remap my keys
in a sensible way.

Fucking software. Not good for anything.

Gavin.
