It's not just the control key it is eating.  I use my middle mouse
button to open links in a new tab, and sometimes it does exactly the
same thing.  I'm pretty sure it's not me, because I have a full-size
middle button (not a scrollwheel), and my fingers just aren't _that_
big.  I can never understand how it chooses the page to load, either.
It's not the page I was clicking on--it's usually one of the pages I
have open in another tab.
