I enabled Folder Actions, played around with them for a while, ran into some truly insane misbehaviour in Finder, and turned them off all over the place. I'm getting more into a mood of "cd Mail.app/Contents/MacOS; mv Mail Mail.real; vi Mail; ..." and have the Mail script check that everything's mounted in the right place before letting Mail.app/Contents/MacOS/Mail run.There's stuff above here
