The slowest computer that BeOS ran on was faster than the fastest Black Box.

The NeXT hardware was stupid-slow. It wasn't even fast enough to decode
MP3s in real time... all the "voice annotation" and so on that Steve Jobs
went on about were WAVs.

But it never got into a microkernel bottleneck the way BeOS sometimes did.

So what? the point is that the weirdness that came from NeXT had nothing to
do with gluing Aqua on top of UNIX. It was already there... and it wasn't
caused by gluing Postscript on top of UNIX 'cos Sun did that too without
bringing stuff like NetInfo in.

NetInfo is a source of weirdness independant of Aqua. If NeXT used X11 they'd
still likely have NetInfo.
