UNC wouldn't be so horrible if hostnames could have functional aliases,
so you could move mountpoints around and still have a single namespace.
maybe there's some way to do this with active directory, but my
co-worker couldn't figure it out, and I've disavowed myself from the
windows world maintenance.  maybe somebody here knows?
