I really wish they'd move the API from HFS+ to a higher layer so you could transparently fiddle with the magic HFS+ metadata in dotfiles or something without having to have HFS+ under the hood. I mean, they ported the new UFS from FreeBSD for Panther, BUT YOU CAN'T BLOODY USE IT because Carbon apps freak out if they can't see any damn resource forks and finder info! Carbon apps are freaky. They'll even cough up blood if the application is on a different volume than the data, sometimes. If I wanted to have weird interactions beween apps and system internals I'd just run Windows.There's stuff above here
