For the record, this is the Bourne shell's behaviour, which Bash merely adopted. 'sh' on my Solaris x86 box (which makes it a real sh, not like Linux's "Just call me bash" sh) does the pass through: $ echo zz* zz* -- If two men agree on everything, you may be sure that one of them is doing the thinking. -- Lyndon B.
