Restricting the character set used syntactically by a programming language is not going to make I18N any harder. There's no reason the programming language can't allow these characters in strings, comments, or any other place where it might cause problems for I18N. Hell, Perl would benefit from a little smaller collection of syntacticaly meaningful symbols as it is.There's stuff above here
