Laptops suck. Even if you're running Windows, laptops suck. I used to 
spend twice as much time fixing Windows problems on Laptops than 
Desktops even though I had more than four times as many desktops to 
support.

If you've got a laptop, you run the OS and drivers and everything that 
came with the laptop. You don't even try upgrading Windows unless you 
got that upgrade from IBM or whoever for the particular laptop you're 
using. Even if you think you have all the drivers you need.

HATE BIOS, HATE ACPI, HATE DRIVERS, HATE SUSPEND, HATE HIBERNATE, HULK 
CRUSH!

Install Windows *from the recovery/install CD for your laptop*, use 
Interix for your UNIX fix. Or go slowly insane.
