Actually, smartmontools is a (not hateful) hard disk monitoring tool.
Not anything like the other five one.

I haven't looked, but it might be that Fedora uses the release-notes
package to require a consistent set of "base" packages. However, that
doesn't explain why the dependency also exists in the other way...
