painful. I've seen people, with a straight face, say that it's
reasonable to put more effort into <tt>LaTeX</tt> or such things, so
sprinkling in a little bit of HTML doesn't seem that bad to me. </p>

<p> It could be better, sure, but for minimal HTML like this, a lot of
the "solutions" I've heard of seem more cumbersome than the original
problem they were supposed to solve. </p>
