I have set myself up so that I can filter the contents of my clipboard through Markdown[1] at the touch of a key (intercepted by the window manager) – write stuff, select all, copy, Win-Shift-X, paste. Makes writing HTML in text edit boxes on web pages much less hateful, because the Markdown syntax as such is almost non-hateful.
