Opening a document to view it does not constitute a change either, even if
the program that opens it has to convert the format in order to understand
it.  I wish Appleworks would stop asking me if I want to save Windows Word
documents when all I do is open then close them.  I also wish I didn't
have to deal with Word documents at all, but that's another matter.
