It's particularly fun as I usually don't realize I've jumped into "interact with screen" mode rather than "just plain typing", so I have to go back and re-read everything I had written to see if any of it survived intact. And since I'm usually reaching for ^A / ^E / etc style jump-around-the-line trickery when I'm trying to cope with a slow link, it gets all the better. Yes, I fully realize that I could get around this by editing a ~/.screenrc, but software that gets off to such a bumpy, boneheaded start seems like a recipe for too much pain to be worth the trouble.
