That's only useful cos you've been conditioned not to expect dialogue
boxes to spot that the directory has changed and to refresh themselves.

The fact that you have to tell the computer about something that it has
just changed is hateful.  The fact that the 'refresh' button is not a
button that says "Refresh" on it but instead is an entry in a list of
directories to select labelled "." is even more hateful.
