The dependancies are a pain when you are deploying to servers you don't control. But when you can use CPAN|CPANPLUS or even just perl Makefile.PL;make;make test;make install it's not so bad. I really like using well tested code to do things I don't want to have to think about figuring out. Probably my favorite Module right now is Net::SMTP, especially since it is in core.
