Oh sure, reach for the easy target.  Hating regexes is easy because they 
look weird.  Wait until you try string processing in Java where some 
lunkhead only knows about "substr" and "indexof".  You come across 
several pages of code to do what some simple regex could.  Only it's 
inflexible and a maintenance nightmare.  And /then/ you discover that it 
doesn't cope with backslashed strings.  Bleargh.
