Pity Larry Wall wasn't a mathematician. People complain bitterly about APL characters but at least the syntax is simple and unambiguous. I note that Gruber, like me, likes Javascript. I think that Javascript has been unfairly maligned... it's tainted by association with the browser mess. As a programming language it's remarkably well designed.
